The Lateral standoff is used to apply a lateral pressure in order to position, clamp, hold or locate the work piece. The lateral pin design allows for quick repeatable work piece location and is ideal for locating lighter parts.
The Lateral standoff can be screwed into the base plate, standoffs or any of the adjustable components. 1off lateral standoff is commonly used with 2off LEE-12 pin standoff to provide a quick change three-point location system (the typical application photo shows this configuration).
The lateral standoff applies a lateral clamping force of 19.6N when in tension against the work piece.
The lateral standoff has a male thread which is screwed directly into any of the female threads in the baseplate, adjustable or locating components. The lateral standoff should be screwed into the female thread by hand and then locked in position.
When positioning the work piece against the lateral pin, the pin should not be moved more than 1.5mm from its natural resting position as over extension of the pin can damage the spring mechanism.
In order to fully appreciate the way in which this component is used we recommend that you view the ‘typical applications page’ in the product catalogue, manual or on our website at http://www.leecosfixture.com
For general cleaning and removal of grease or oily deposits methylated spirits can be applied with a cloth or sponge. The part should only be air dried as rinsing in water can damage the spring mechanism.
